Hosts: Duck Sauce, Gyro, Biscuit, T-Bone, and Americano

Show Notes:
  • Mouse Guard actual play

In episode fourteen we saw a lot of pre-game discussion and warm up, so for episode fifteen we launched straight into the actual play of Mouse Guard. In this third session, we see the patrol come face-to-face (or is it snout-to-snout?) with the antagonists of Gilpledge. The heroes try to root out the conspiracy, find the traitor, and fight their toughest opposition yet.

A Model's Eye View

Flounder makes his in-sight check, literally

This last game night I was able to pull off some candid shots of some of the hosts getting their LOS groove on. We were playing a Two Hour Wargame, and as you may or may not know, a large mechanic deals with reactionary shooting. This is all based on the in-sight test, and that requires line-of-sight, thanks to this we got a lot of squinting and checking. I was able to snap off many of these without anyone realizing what I was doing (obviously).

Episode 12: Mouse Guard and Much, Much More

Episode 12: Mouse Guard and Much, Much More
http://www.cowell.org/~andy/motmm/64k-podcast.rss

Hosts: Duck Sauce, Gyro, Biscuit, T-Bone, Pad Prik, Americano, and Chick-O-Stick

Show Notes:
If the show notes alone aren't an indicator I don't know what is! This last episode is jam-packed, and with zero structure to boot. We feel this particular episode truly captures the feel of just 'hanging out at the game table' and even if you're not into the whole actual play part of the podcast, you should stick around for that too, just 'cause of all the fun we had. To quote the spousal unit upstairs, "I'm guessing everyone had a good time last night, you guys were rowdy." And we were, it was off-the-cuff fun while still getting down to business. Serious gaming business. Duck Sauce has said it before, this podcast is really just us doing what we always do, but now we have a microphone, and that sums up episode 12 the best.

http://www.cowell.org/~andy/motmm/64k-podcast.rss

Hosts: Duck Sauce, Gyro, Biscuit, T-Bone, Pad Prik, Mystery Meat, and Chick-O-Stick

Show Notes:
Solidly now in the double digits, episode eleven takes us back to familiar ground with the first actual play session of Mouse Guard, Around the Horn, and all the other Minions goodness. With a whopping seven hosts this time around, it's hard to believe we still didn't have a full house! We might be missing both Flounder and Americano, but it was still a good game.

  • Martian Progress Track
  • A Cultist, a Cop, a Groundskeeper, and a Scientist walk into a bar...
  • Late show T-Bone Sighting
In this episode, a few of us run through a quick game of Arkenstone Publishing's excellent Zombie Cinema. We have devised a Martian variant for the game, and this is the actual play of that session. Being a "pick up" game a few hours before episode eleven, we skipped a lot of the usual format, most notable the popular 'Around the Horn' segment.

Tonight's episode marks the conclusion of this particular story arc of the acolytes' recent investigation. After tying up some loose ends, namely the recent assassination attempt in the gardens, and deepening their understanding of who the possessed servitor represents, the party finally tracks down the location of their ultimate quarry. Having lost their Arbites officer, and with one of their psykers recovering from a shattered leg, they are shorthanded, but time is short, and they have to go with what they've got.

The party cruises through the Caloric Debris Fields...

We're not finished with Dark Heresy for good, but we will definitely be switching gears for a little while, give Duck Sauce a bit of a GM break, and give Mouseguard a test drive for a little while. It's been a good run, and I think everyone agrees that DH was a blast to play. People are pretty attached to their character as well, so we definitely don't want to abandon them for good. It's very possible that the Ascension expansion will be out by the next time we hit Dirtside with our acolytes, so they may be getting the ultimate field promotion!

Episode 5: One-shot session of 3:16
http://www.cowell.org/~andy/motmm/64k-podcast.rss

Hosts: Duck Sauce, Little Gyro, T-Bone, Biscuit

Episode five consists of a quick, one-shot game of Gregor Hutton's excellent sci-fi rpg, 3:16 Carnage Amongst the Stars. Although we decided completely on a whim to play this game tonight, and there was zero prep time, it was still a fun session. The party, the boys of Baker squad, touch down on the asteroid Dürer to engage the enemy, which just happens to be a sentient planet in and of itself. Their secondary mission was to locate Delta squad and investigate suspicions of Delta squad tampering with their weapon kill-counters.

We are now up to five total podcasts. In this last episode we continue with actual play of our Dark Heresy campaign, the Animus Hereticus. This is our third session of Dark Heresy while recording. Being close to the holidays we had many players not present, but we still ventured ahead and continued where the last episode left off. After a brief jaunt through the immaterium, our cargo hauler arrives at the pleasure planet of Quaddis. We have our contact name and a loose plan of what to do once on the ground...

The hosts share many hearty laughs to book end the actual play portion of the episode.

Episode 1: The Lost Session

"Black Jack" Onyx was plying a meager trade route in the outskirts of the Callixus Sector, financed by the mid-tier trade consortium Collective Menelauis . It was consistent, if not extremely prosperous, work. On one route, while hauling grain from an agri-world, he received a distress call from a navy vessel requesting immediate assistance from all Imperial craft within hearing. By the time Onyx showed up, he discovered a badly battered Sword-class frigate making way as best she could. Investigating, he quickly discovered the ship was manned by an Eldar prize crew trying to get the captured vessel into hiding! Quickly taking stock of the situation, Onyx led his merchant crew in a boarding action against the frigate. Numbers soon told, and the vile Eldar corsairs, no doubt crew of the notorious Ulthyr Ellarion, were soon wiped out.

Episode 1: Rogue Trader First Session

Episode 1: Rogue Trader First Session
motmm-ep1-64kbps.mp3
Hosts: Duck Sauce, T-Bone, Gyro, and Biscuit

Show Notes:
  • the show gets a new host
  • around the horn
  • iTunes announcement
  • hail to our blog followers
  • the Lovecraft Circle
  • epic fail with a major rookie mistake
This could possibly be the shortest podcast we may ever produce. If you've followed along thus far, you may have picked up on the fact that our outfit is rather, hmm, developmental in its beginning stages. So, our 'epic fail' occurred early in the show.

My idea was to kind of "edit on the fly" pausing where need be, gain our bearings, unpause it and get rolling. Of course this flies in the face of my previous stance in the vein of Hitchcock's "Rope" where I suggested we roll it without stopping. Now in hindsight, I'm thinking that my original inclination was the really the right way to go.

Our "podcast technical equipment" is new to the group, including its owner, tech-sherpa Duck Sauce. When we thought we "unpaused" it, err, we didn't. That being the case, the bulk of the show, which was the most important part of the show, the actual game play itself, was completely left out. Ah, what can you do?

C'est la vie, these are the birthing pangs of being a bunch of rookies I guess. No, we're not going to "reshoot" or anything, we're just going to move on.
