You Just Had to Enter!

You may recall the recent contest we had, giving away a painted Deathwatch Space Marine. Maybe you don't recall it, which is why you didn't enter. Either way, the bottom line is that everyone who entered...won. It was that simple!

This blog, which really just accompanies the podcast itself, has 94 followers. If all 94 followers had entered we would be in serious trouble! As it turns out, four of you entered, we just happened to have four spare, unpainted Deathwatch Space Marines lying around, so all four came out winners.

I believe the mix turned out to be a Librarian with Force Sword and Power Fist, an Assault marine with Jump Pack, Chain-axe, and scoped Bolt pistol, a Devastator marine with a Plasma Cannon, and a Tactical marine (I think) kitted out appropriately, so who gets what exactly? I don't know, but the following winners will be contacted soon about where to ship these figs off to.
  1. Eriochrome of the excellent Sons of Twilight blog
  2. Tristan of the equally excellent GW Pertinent blog
  3. Stewart, one of the hosts of Live by the Die, Die by the Die
  4. Señor Vosovic, who I can't seem to link to any blog
So congratulations to all of you. We will try to post some WiP shots here on the blog so you can see how your marines are shaping up before they ship out. Until next time!

New Contest: You Could be the Next Winner!

That's right, you, yes YOU! could be the next winner. I don't know how many contests we've had, but here's another one. How do you win? Easy, listen to the show, follow this blog, blah, blah, blah. No you don't even have to be a follower.

Remember our officially sanctioned and fully approved Minions Merchandise? The link is also on the right, as has been said time and time again, there is zero markup, we don't do this to make money. It's just nice to get the word out, besides it's a chance for you to get some cool artwork by host artist Bi3cuit.

Well head over to the shop, find something cool, just look around, and then you're automatically entered in the contest. It's that easy. It's a good shop, you'll find cool stuff, and the cheapest thing is a ten dollar coffee mug, the most expensive is a $24 dollar shirt (seen here). You have to drink stuff to live, why not in a Minions mug? You have to wear clothing in the elements, again, why not in a cool gamer's shirt? Of course, no purchase is necessary to win. Send us an email to say what you liked in the shop, what you bought if you did such a thing, what you might have bought, or what you would like to see added. That's all it takes.

During the next Deathwatch episode we will randomly draw a name from those who have entered and the winner shall receive:

A 40k Deathwatch Space Marine

That's right, and it won't be something already painted off the shelf either. It will be painted for you, from a space marine of the chapter of your choosing. You also get to pick whether it will be an Assault Marine, a Devastator Marine, or a Marine Librarian.

The contest concludes with the airing of the next Deathwatch podcast, so you only have a week or two left! Good luck, the Emperor protects (and gives away prizes)!

Smuggled Packets, From Our Colon to Yours

We're not the fastest when it comes to shipping out fabulous cash and prizes...but rest assured they eventually do get shipped out! Here's the latest round of minis, ready to be smuggled through any lax, ahem, checkpoint.

Instead of swallowing these and hoping they don't rupture in my colon however I may just send them out priority mail. Besides, I don't know what a ruptured miniature might do to my innards and I don't want to risk finding out. All right Moe, check that mailbox and congrats again!

Everyone else stay tuned, you never know when we'll have the next contest (we never know either actually).

Free Minis Giveaway Winner!

In episode 31 we had an embedded, super-secret miniatures giveaway. Up for grabs are the five galactic hooligans you see above; 15mm Scourge models from Rebel Minis. The codeword for the contest was "Icehouse" and Moe came through like the wind.
"The sun hangs high in the sky and the ice house is slippery when wet."
So congratulations to Moe, and to anyone else who made it that far into the podcast (we'll get you a consolation prize Stewart). There will definitely be more giveaways in the future. Until then!

Buncombe Inc.

The Board of Regents at Buncombe Inc.

As mentioned in episode 14, but not acted upon until now, here is the official blog-pimping of caption-contest winner, Señor Mencken. ¡Hola!, and congrats again Señor! His blog is well-written and, unlike this one, its posts actually contain thought-provoking commentary and other treatises upon which all manner of topics are given their due.

As his prize pack, The Señor receives dos paperback books; books one and two of the gritty, military sci-fi series known as Death's Head by David Gunn. In-your-face, feces-on-the-floor action novels are probably going to be an affront to his literary tastes, but variety is the spice of life! Why these novels have been signed by Minions of the Monster Master I'll never know, but for what it's worth, those aforementioned signatories have graced the pages of these paperbacks with encouraging words and congratulatory phrases. At the very least, this ensures you want be able to simply sell them to a used bookstore!

It Comes Down to a Coin Toss Tonight

Ralnai weighs in with his enthusiastic mug...and his coffee cup!

So it comes down to just two entries for the first Minions swag contest? You've got, oh I don't know, about five hours to sneak something else in. Above is a near-last minute entry by listener and reviewer Ralnai! Here he displays his java-express, now Ralnai is a big guy, close to seven feet tall actually, and as you can see, the large mug still holds it own.

Remember, we've actually got two contests rolling, one is the swag contest you see above, and the other one was more of a lark with a caption contest. Both of these end with the onset of tonight's podcast, with winners announced on-air, so get cracking yo!

Minions Caption Contest!

Time is short on this one folks! It's a simple contest, and we'll announce the winner in just a few short days during the recording of the next episode. Remember, there's a second contest going on right now as well, but we've only received one entry so far! So now you have two ways to win valuable cash and prizes (err, not cash) before this weekend's deadlines!

Here's the lowdown on the caption contest, take the above photograph and come up with two speech balloons to accompany it; one balloon per person in the photo. As a reminder, there's three classic speech balloons shown here; speech, thought, and scream. You don't have to actually use a balloon, just write what you would put in each if the photo had them. Post your replies here in the comments field and we'll read them out loud on the air Saturday, the one that makes us laugh the most will most likely be the winner.

What do you win? I don't know, but we'll think of something and make it worth your while. Okay, maybe not worth your while, but fun!

Our First Contest Entry!

Pinto Jake takes the lead...

I was as surprised as you are to see this entry come across the Minions news desk. You may or may not remember there's a contest going on people! Well Jake here remembered, and sent in this pic of himself in what looks like one of our 'Mouse Patrol' shirts.

Good on ya Jake! But let's see if we can give you a little competition, aye? All right folks, send in those contest pics to minionsofthemonstermaster 'at' gmail 'dot' com! Who knows when the next episode will be, so you've either got a couple of weeks, or just a few days!

Minions Contest Announcement!

In episode 12 we had talked about a contest for the readers out there, and the time has finally come! This will be the first in what is hopefully a series of reader/listener driven contests.

For this first contest participation is simple. All you have to do is send in a picture of you with your piece of Minons Merchandise. The more creative the better, but the bottom line is just you and your shirt, mug, whatever, doing whatever it is you normally do. These can be at the gaming table, candid, staged, in public, whatever. We will post the pictures here, and then announce the winner on the next podcast and here on the blog. Just send us a single photograph and a blurb of who you are, general information and what-not, we'll do the rest.

The winner will receive a prize pack consisting of:
Send all entries to minionsofthemonstermaster "at" gmail.com. That's it, easy enough right? You've got about a month, so get those pics rolling in, and good luck!
