Episode 16: With Great Power...

Episode 16: With Great Power...
http://www.cowell.org/~andy/motmm/64k-podcast.rss

Hosts: Duck Sauce, Gyro, Biscuit, Flounder, and Pinto

Show Notes:
Episode sixteen passes the 'get focused people!' curse on to the next host to man the GM conn; Duck Sauce. We begin with a meandering irreverence of unusually high proportions, which is saying something with this group. Next we move on to an entertaining game of the superhero storytelling RPG, With Great Power. All the usual Minions goodness applies.

  1. Lol! I couldn't stop laughing at that, especially how it echoes your sentiments so well! Face it, Dino Bolt is here to stay, ROOOOOAAAAR!!!!!

  2. To be clear, despite some initial surprise, I liked Dino Bolt, especially if we go with the idea that the "Bolt" powers originate with the lost Empire of Mkashi. After the empire fell, the control of the powers was lost and has created this wild lineage of "Bolt" heroes. Maybe King Karo will have some sort of control over or enmity towards the Bolts because of it.

  3. Great episode. You guys got a bit blue again, but what gaming group doesn't. Heck, even when my wife is in attendance of our games it gets that way (she's as bad as the guys :)).

Thor is indeed going to be the next movie out. It seems to take place mostly in Asgard with giants and gods and stuff.

Captain American is going to be at least part if not entirely a WW2 movie.

From what I heard, Terrance didn't make it back for Iron Man 2 because he wanted more for his role than they were willing to give. Also, Micky Rorke's character is actually a fusion of Whiplash and Crimson Dynamo - name and person of Dynamo with powers of whiplash.

With Great Power was a fun listen. I love superhero RPGs and ran a Marvel Superheroes campaign for over 10+ years back from about my junio high school days and all through my bachelor days.

Will we be getting a battle report of that Pig Wars game you mentioned?

  4. You'll find our previous Pig Wars games at Repple Depple, and this will no doubt be up before too long.

Glad you caught this, Eli. It was that recent RPG discussion we were in on the S2 list that made me decide to go ahead and get WGP and try it.

  5. I'm having trouble downloading the podcast, for some strange reason - it might be on my end, but I can't seem to get anything past the first five minutes or so.

    :-(

  6. The exact thing happened to me with #17. You've got to just be persistent, as frustrating as it may be. Duck Sauce runs the server out of his house on a somewhat dated computer; the good news is that it's free, bad news is, well, you know...

  7. Yes, we could really do with some better hosting for the podcast episodes. This episode is huge and my Internet service just was not designed to host large files, sadly.

  8. This episode meaning not this episode but #17, the next one.

  9. Can't seem to get the podcast to download to my @#$#*&$# RSS feed thinger on my ICrap so I haven't listened to the podcast yet but isn't "With Great Power" part of the Marvel Universe (Uncle Ben via Peter Parker). Is this a DC universe game?

  10. E in MD: Sorry about the download issues, hopefully they're not related. We are working to get this stuff fixed, it's a priority.

With Great Power is non-company, non-universe specific. You can certainly do a Spider-Man type character, or do Spider-Man himself, but the game is a generic Supers RPG. Oh, and for the record, it's an AWESOME Supers RPG.

  11. In fact, here is Spider-Man's character sheet for WGP.
