Episode 53; Extended Around the Horn

Episode 53: iTunes
Episode 53: Non-iTunes

Hosts: Gyro, Biscuit, T-Bone, and Churro

Show Notes:
  • Marvel Movies
  • Alan Cumming
  • Ryan Reynolds
  • Peanuts; Shelled or No?
  • Marvel Heroic RPG
  • Airing of Grievances
  • That's just for starters, on to Around the Horn...
Here's an impromptu, super-extended Around the Horn episode. We had set out to play Marvel Heroic, but a super-extended work-related phone call that Duck Sauce had to take necessitated it. Kind of like the episode of Seinfeld where it entirely took place in a restaurant waiting lobby, our episode takes place entirely within the span of Duck Sauce's work call. Is it Around the Horn or is it just random gamer chat at its candid finest? You decide.

Enjoy!

    1. Apoc World looks awesome, it sounded awesome (and tres explicit I might add) on LbtDDbtD. We *will* get to it, I just don't know when.

As for Moe's game, heck yeah, it's a cool Deadlands module with zombies. This is really cool because back in the day we used to play a lot of 1st edition Deadlands. We're gonna get to that one too. I swear.

  2. Gotta say, Gyro, I'm disappointed to hear that you have "banned" the Star Wars prequels at your home. While I think there are plenty of valid criticisms of the prequels, it's sad to think that you're denying your children the chance to experience parts of geek culture and decide for themselves. A lot of younger viewers really dig the prequels, and I hardly think that makes them "bad" geeks or anything like that (I myself have a fondness for Episode II). I think, as geeks (and geek parents in particular) it's not for us to pass judgment on the geeky interests of others - that's divisive and self-defeating. That doesn't mean we have to endorse everything, but I think that geeks as a whole should be open and (though I hate to use the word) "tolerant" of whatever other forms of pop culture people find entertaining and meaningful.

    1. Thanks for chiming in djazz. It certainly wasn't my intention to disparage any listeners that might be fans of the prequels, I'll have to go back and listen to what off-the-cuff comment I said that elicited such a well written and thought-out response before I comment any further however.

  3. Well, I'm about halfway through this episode, and you will be pleased to hear that it's been the audio fuel to some nice new crusties and a new set of figures from Mad Robot and another from Khurasan (based and assembled tonight) It made my night when I got a shout-out and heck, I wish you guys were here too!
