So, our friends* at Fear the Boot just finished up a two-part podcast on gamer health. In that vein, I wanted to find a healthy snack for game night.
Ms. T-Bone** and I eat a lot of tofu, so I thought I would look for a good tofu snack. I found this one, which I believe can be credited to one of my favorite chefs/ source of many of my sexual fantasies Rachael Ray. It is simple and tasty.
Fried Tofu dippers
The Dippers
1 lb Firm Tofu, drained cut into 1/2 inch cubes
Salt and Pepper (Don't be a cheap-ass, get sea salt and fresh ground pepper).
Oil for frying.
The Sauce
1/4 a cup of veggie oil.
1 Tbsp Chili Sauce
1 Tbsp Soy Sauce
Mix the sauce ingredients.
Heat oil on high heat. Generously salt and pepper the tofu. Drop into oil and cook until the cubes are slightly brown on the outside. Drain on paper towel. Serve.
I made this recipe today, and while it is good, I think I am going to modify it to make it more enjoyable to the non-tofu initiated gaming group. Namely, I'm going to marinade the tofu in soy sauce before adding the salt and pepper, and I'm going to reduce the oil in the sauce to 1/8 a cup.
*We don't actually know them.

That was an excellent 2-parter on FtB, that's why I brought pork rinds to the last game and stayed away from cola and drank pamplemousse. And yeah, we're all friends...in gaming podcast spirit!
ReplyDeleteNice recipe here, can't wait to try it out.
I soooooo am going to edit this post and replace Rachael Ray with Bobby Flay...
ReplyDeleteBesides, tofu? What the hell? I'd rather just die five years sooner.
Didn't you know that T-bone stood for Tofu-bone?
